Serving the needs of the faithful in Southwestern Ontario

Pastoral Minister’s Message

pastoralminister Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Matthew 5.4

The death of a dear loved one brings with it profound sadness, confusion and loneliness. Where do you turn?

In partnership with local clergy and churches, meeting the spiritual needs of families when a loved one has passed away is my primary service as Pastoral Minister here with Heavenly Rest Family of Catholic Cemeteries. As Pastoral Minister it is my honour to companion those left behind by the death of a loved one. I am here offering support through prayer and presence during the difficult time of loss and bereavement. I am able to provide respectful and dignified memorial or committal services, including music if desired. The passing of a loved one through death causes profound changes in the lives of the living. You are not alone in your grief and loneliness. As a companion I avail myself to those who are grieving, bringing comfort, compassion and consolation to family members who have been left behind due to the death of a dear loved one.

Formal gatherings to pray for and to remember all our deceased loved ones take place here at Heavenly Rest Cemetery during the Christmas season, with a candlelight service, in the Spring, for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day and in the Autumn on Cemetery Sunday. As well, Mass for the deceased is celebrated in Resurrection Mausoleum here at Heavenly Rest Cemetery at 4:30 pm on the first Tuesday of each month. My ministry also extends to parents who have experienced miscarriage or infant death. An annual Remembering service for families such as these takes place here in the Spring. For current information on all these services, visit this web site often.

A loved one’s final resting place at a cemetery in Heavenly Rest Family of Catholic Cemeteries may also be for you, a place of peace and comfort in your time of grief and bereavement. The welcoming and serene setting of our cemeteries offers opportunity for family and friends of the deceased to return here to pray, rest or simply to “be.” In sure and certain hope we await the resurrection where we will all be united once again with those whom we love and have lost.

Please call if I may be of any assistance to you. (519) 969-4836 Ext. 249

In Peace,

Mrs. Mary Heath, B. Mus. A., B. Ed, MA
